Make Our Lives Better

When I get home from work in the evening, I look forward to getting on my computer to look at the news, shop for Harley parts, and play around on Facebook. If you were to tell me 20 years ago that I would be using a “personal computer” today, I would’ve gotten a chuckle out of that. The technology wouldn’t have registered with me. Now I wonder how we live without having a cell phone in one hand and using a PC, laptop or tablet with the other. One of the things I like to read on Facebook is the ASSE International Plumbing Term of the Day. Some of the plumbing terms I have heard before, but many of them are new to me. ASSE’s Facebook page is one way to stay “in the know” about what’s going on with the society and the industry. Social media is a good way to let people know about upcoming meetings, when standards are due for updates, and other important issues for the craftsperson in the field. ASSE keeps its members informed when the Board of Directors meet and when the Annual Meeting is coming up. Let’s not let the technology of today rule our day, but let’s use it to make our lives better.

Speaking of the Annual Meeting, this year’s event will be here before you know it! The 2018 ASSE International Annual Meeting will be held Oct. 15-18 at Bahia Mar – a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. New to this year’s event will be the ASSE International Plumbing Trade Show and Expo on Oct. 16, which will be held in conjunction with the 7th Annual ASSE Florida Chapter Plumbing Trade Show. This expo will feature the same great atmosphere that Floridians have come to expect, plus additional attendees, additional exhibitors, complimentary food, and a cash bar.

After completing his apprenticeship, he became a licensed journeyman plumber in 1988. From 1988 to 1998, he worked his way up to foreman and in 1998 he was hired by Local 60 to be an organizer.
