On Wednesday, Sept. 25, members of ASSE International elected John A. Parizek to serve a second term as International President at the Business Session / Awards Ceremony of the 2019 ASSE International Annual Meeting in Reno, NV.
Following a balloted election, including two contested positions, four new members were also added to the ASSE International Board of Directors. The new Board members include Treasurer Douglas Marian, Region 1 Director Chris Cheek, Region 7 Director Gregory Beck, and Manufacturers’ Representative Thomas Lentine.
The outgoing Board members are Treasurer John F. Flader, Region 1 Director Jaime Valdivia, Region 7 Director Matthew King, and Manufacturers’ Representative John F. Higdon, P.E.
Thank you all for your service, but in particular, thank you John Flader for serving as treasurer since 2006. Flader started his life with ASSE in March of 1982 by joining the Illinois Chapter. Immediately, he became active on different committees, continued working his way through the ranks and was elected chapter president from 1998 to 1999. In 2012, he was honored with ASSE’s most prestigious award, the Henry B. Davis Award. In 2005, he received the Illinois Chapter Edward Zimmer Award and in 2011 he received the Illinois Chapter Crystal Drop Award. He has received the Fellow (FASSE) Award and has served as ASSE Region #4 director twice. His second term was cut short by being elected to the office of treasurer.
