The ASSE International Board of Directors met on Friday, July 13 at the Marriott O’Hare Hotel in Chicago, IL. The ASSE financial report was reviewed. ASSE is on budget for both revenue and expenses in 2018. The Regional Directors reported on activities within their regions. Many regions are seeing growth in construction, especially in hospitals. The Board recognized that this is the time to promote the ASSE Infection Control (12000) Certification program. California’s Proposition 65 was discussed. Conversation centered around the impact Prop 65 will have on the labels that manufacturers put on their products. ASSE will work toward informing members, contractors, and consumers as to why these new labels are being added and what they mean.
The Board was also informed of efforts by the ASSE Florida Chapter to recruit vendors, sponsors, and attendees to the 2018 ASSE International Trade Show on Oct. 16, which will be held during the 2018 ASSE International Annual Meeting. Presenters of the E.J. Zimmer Technical Seminar were discussed, as well as the schedule for the meeting.
Progress within ASSE’s programs was discussed, as well as strategies to advance ASSE International’s mission. The Board of Directors will next meet during the 2018 ASSE International Annual Meeting, held Oct. 15-18 at Bahia Mar – a Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
